A NYANGA Ecocash vendor (26) lost $1 300 in mysterious circumstances to two unidentified men at a Nyamhuka Ecocash kiosk last Saturday.

The woman popularly known as Mai Tino said it was around 3pm when the men in their 40s arrived at the kiosk intending to do a $500 cash-out transaction, but said the money was yet to be sent into their phone from their boss.

After a while the men, who were speaking in a foreign accent and claiming that they were Zambians, then did a cash-out transaction amounting to $50 and left.

The attendant got the shock of her life as she tried to serve another customer. The $1 300 which was in the cashbox had been replaced with tissue papers, cardboard boxes, old Zimbabwean dollar notes and Jiggies empty packets.

The records which the woman insisted she had entered in the record book as well as the transaction record on the cell phone had also disappeared.

The people who converged at the Ecocash booth said they suspected juju as this had happened in the resort village in the past.

A police report was immediately made and investigations are in progress.
