A 31-year-old Headlands man has been slapped with a fine after he was found in possession of an army uniform. Pilato Siabami (31) of ZRP Headlands was fined $50 by Mutare magistrate Ms Perseverance Makala, after admitting to unlawfully possessing and wearing the army uniform.

Siabami also risks being jailed for 15 days if he fails to pay the fine on or before July 24.
He was facing charges of unlawful possession and wearing camouflage uniform as defined in Section 32 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.

For the State, Mr John Tarisai Munyurwa said that on July 4 this year, police received information that Siabami was in possession of a Zimbabwe National Army uniform.

Police officers conducted a search and found the army uniform at Siabami’s house in ZRP Headlands camp.
The uniform comprised one army denim, two combat caps, two combat shirts and one pair of patrol boots with camouflage markings.

Siabami was arrested and taken to Mutare Magistrates’ Court where he admitted to the offence.
He told the court that he was given the army uniform by his friend, who is a soldier.
