A 73-YEAR-OLD Gwanda man has been fined $100 for assaulting his wife over dog food.
Bishop Sibanda of Zhokwe area under Chief Nhlamba yesterday appeared before Matabeleland South provincial magistrate Mr Douglas Vakayi Chikwekwe facing charges of physically abusing his wife, Mrs Agnes Sibanda whose age was not given.
Sibanda was convicted on his own plea and fined $100 or two months in prison.
On 13 June this year at about 7pm, Sibanda and his wife were at their homestead.

Sibanda ordered his wife to prepare food for the dogs and she complied.

After the dogs had finished eating the food, he again ordered her to cook more food as what she had prepared was not enough but she refused.

Sibanda then asked for the keys to the kitchen where the mealie-meal was kept so he could cook for his dogs but the wife refused with the keys.

Angered by his wife’s behaviour, Sibanda hit her once on top of her left eye with a log resulting in the woman sustaining a deep cut.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Sibanda’s arrest.

Mr Mncedisi Dube prosecuted.
