A 34-year-old sex hungry man from Gwanda allegedly crept into his fellow villager’s room, hid under her bed and went on to rape her when she got into bed.
Kelboy Moyo (34) of Garanyemba area under Chief Nhlamba on Monday appeared before Gwanda regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira to answer to charges of unlawful entry and rape.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to today.
Allegations by the State are that on 13 August, Moyo proceeded to his 31-year-old neighbour’s homestead.
He allegedly tiptoed towards the complainant’s bedroom hut, opened the door and entered the room.
There was no one inside.
The court was told that Moyo hid under the complainant’s bed and waited for her.
At about 8pm, the complainant retired to bed and slept without noticing Moyo.
When she had fallen asleep, Moyo allegedly came from underneath the bed and got into her blankets.
It is further alleged that the accused closed the complainant’s mouth and forcefully removed her undergarments before raping her.
The complainant cried for help and later overpowered Moyo. The woman’s neighbour heard her screams and ran to the homestead to investigate.
However, it is alleged that the accused got out of the complainant’s bedroom through a window and fled before the woman’s neighbour arrived at the scene.
The complainant’s neighbour then traced the footprints of the accused leading to Moyo’s homestead.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Moyo’s arrest.
