A Bulawayo man has been arrested for fondling his 32-year-old neighbour in broad daylight as she sat in her boyfriend’s car.

Dumisani Sibanda, 27, of Mpopoma suburb, fondled Nomatter Ndlovu’s breasts twice before insulting her.

Ndlovu’s boyfriend rescued her by pushing Sibanda away.

Sibanda appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Themba Chimiso facing a count of indecent assault and criminal insult.

He pleaded guilty and Chimiso fined him $100 for each count or 60 days in jail.

Chimiso ordered Sibanda to pay the money by the end of the day yesterday, failure to which he would serve the alternative jail term.

Chimiso said: “Giving you time to pay the fine will trivialise the matter and your conduct was demeaning on the part of the complainant who is your neighbour. You must learn to respect others.”

Asked if he had anything to say before sentencing, Sibanda apologised to his neighbour.

Prosecuting, Mitchelle Chiboiwa said on August 29 at around 5PM, Ndlovu was sitting in a car which was parked outside Congo Beer Gardens in the suburb.

She said Sibanda approached Ndlovu, got into the car and the two started talking.

“While talking, Sibanda fondled Ndlovu’s breasts twice,” Chiboiwa said.

When Ndlovu ordered Sibanda to stop, the court heard, he insulted the woman by referring her mother’s private parts and called her unprintable names.

Chiboiwa said the woman’s boyfriend rescued her.

The lovers went to Matshobana police base where they filed a police report, leading to Sibanda’s arrest.
