A MAN has been fined US$200 for assaulting a bar tender in a row over US$1.
Raymond Mabvuramiti, (20), was fined US$200 for beating the bartender who had refused to give him US$1 change.
The bartender insisted that Mabvuramiti should first pay him the US$5 he owed her.
He pleaded guilty when he appeared before magistrate, Notebulgar Muchineripi, who sentenced him to pay a US$200 fine.
Prosecutor Nyasha Sesenyai told the court:
“On April 22, 2026, at around 8 pm, Mabvuramiti had an argument over US$1 change which he had left and the complainant was refusing to give him because he owed her a balance amounting to US$5.
“During the argument, Mabvuramiti then started beating the complainant using bare hands several times on the face.
“He used a wooden stick on right breast of the complainant.
“The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused.”
Meanwhile, a Nyanga man will spend the next nine months in prison after he was convicted of assaulting a man who attempted to ‘poach’ his beer at a drinking hall.
Twist Chipunza, (32), of Tadoka Village, who was not legally represented, appeared before Nyanga magistrate, Muchineripi, facing one count of assault.
He pleaded guilty to the assaulting Lincoln Masungo, (33), of 941 Nyamhuka Township, Nyanga.
Muchineripi sentenced Chipunza to six months in prison for the assault.
Chipunza has a history of anger issues and was convicted of another assault case three years ago.
Prosecutor Nyasha Sesenyai told the court:
“In April 2026, and at Mangondoza Business Centre, the accused person met the complainant on his way to the toilet.
“The complainant asked for beer, which was being held by the accused person.
“This did not go down well with the accused person who pushed the complainant to the ground.
“The complainant sustained a cut on the forehead as a result of the push.”
