A GWANDA man has been granted a peace order against his neighbour who has been tormenting him following a misunderstanding over the ownership of a fence separating their houses.
Magistrate Olivia Mashava Mashaire yesterday granted Andrew Dugunye a peace order that would run for a year against his neighbour, Ali Zulu, who had made his life and that of his family a living hell.
“The problem started on a certain morning when Zulu hung meat to dry on my fencing wire and a dog came and hit against the fence resulting in the meat falling to the ground.
“That did not go down well with the respondent and he started blaming me for that and also claimed that the fence belonged to him,” Dugunye said.
The court heard that Zulu would embarrass his neighbour in public by shouting at him.
“I applied for a peace order because Zulu sometimes insults me, calling me names shouting at me from his house while I will be at my house. He also said my wife is a prostitute and I am being supported with money from prostitution,” he added.
In his application, Dugunye said he wanted Zulu to stop insulting him, calling him names and even talking to him.
Zulu admitted that he would sometimes insult his neighbour as he did not want him to use the fence.
“We are already not in talking terms so I have no problem with the peace order,” he said.
