A HARARE man has been granted a protection order against his ex-lover who has suicidal tendencies.
Nkululeko Sibanda left the courtroom in a joyful mood after magistrate Sharon Mashavira granted him a protection order against ex-girlfriend, Munashe Jede.
Nkululeko told the court that Munashe was suicidal and always comes to his workplace to insult him.
He said he had reported threats sent to him by Munashe, via text messages, at the Borrowdale Police Station.
“We dated last year and she fell pregnant. I never denied the pregnancy, but told her that I couldn’t marry her.
“I even paid hospital bills when she had complications, but she came to my workplace last week and insulted me, demanding money and threatening to commit suicide,” he said.
Munashe said she wasn’t opposed to the application, but accused Nkululeko of submitting falsehoods.
“He never paid any hospital bills. He promised to give me the money, but never fulfilled his promise, so that’s why I went to his workplace.
“He told me he had a wife after impregnating me, and that I should not contact him, but I needed the money to be treated for abdominal pains after my operation,” she said.
Magistrate Mashavira said Munashe’s behaviour was unacceptable and caused emotional distress to Nkululeko.
Munashe was advised to seek medical help for her suicidal tendencies and to resolve the financial issues through proper legal channels.
