Man held for vehicle break-ins

POLICE in Gweru say they are holding a man believed to have broken into dozens of vehicles in the city. Lawrence Mukodyo, 29, of Mkoba 19, is said to be a member of a six-member syndicate that was terrorising motorists and residents in the Midlands city.Mukodyo was arrested at his lodgings in Mkoba on Tuesday. Investigators also found 2kgs of mbanje, among other items.

Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, said: “The suspect was found in possession of stolen property, which included two HP Laptops, seven bottles of 100mls Bronclear Cough Syrup, nine cellphone simcards, a 32 inch Ecco flat screen television, 160W speaker, a computer monitor, prepaid smart card and two Samsung cellphones.

“We also recovered two kilograms of mbanje, a shifting spanner and a pair of pliers believed to have been used in committing some of the crimes.”
Mukodya later implicated his accomplices identified as Mabika, Washington, Koke, Wasu and Tawanda all residing in Mambo and Ascot Suburbs.

“The five are still at large,” said Insp Mahoko.
