A MAN from Mpopoma suburb in Bulawayo allegedly punched and throttled his girlfriend while ordering her to stop meeting up with her previous lover.
The dramatic incident happened last Thursday. The court heard that Griff Gelife Kasuko (50) gathered from the rumour mill that his lover, Shaimn Nyoni (26) had allegedly retraced her footsteps to her former husband with whom she shares a child.
Kasuko then drove to his lover’s place and upon getting there he sweet-talked her and asked her to accompany him to his home so that they could talk about her re-union with her former husband.
When they were a few metres from a garage at Kelvin North industrial area, Kasuko accused his lover of cheating on him, after that, he grabbed her by her hand and twisted it. As if that was not enough, he pulled her out of the car and started to kick and punch her all over the body. He went a gear up and attacked her with a beer bottle while threatening to stab her, the court heard.
Nyoni sustained a swollen face, eyes and lips. The incident was reported to the police leading to Kasuko’s arrest. He appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Evia Matura facing an assault charge and pleaded not guilty. He was remanded out of custody to 27 May.
