Man in court for assaulting ex-wife’s boyfriend

A 47-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo has appeared in court facing charges of assaulting his ex-wife’s boyfriend.

Dumezweni Khumalo appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga, charged with assault.

He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to March 21 for sentencing.

Khumalo told the court that on the day in question, he had gone to his ex-wife’s home to give her money for their children when her boyfriend, Charles Nyoni, approached him and began insulting him, which upset him.

He stated that Nyoni would often insult him whenever he came to see his children and that he had ignored it for some time until the day in question.

The circumstances of the case were that on February 22, 2025, in Luveve suburb at around 5pm, the accused and the complainant engaged in an argument over an unknown issue.

Khumalo then attacked the complainant with a machete, striking him once on the left palm and once on the right shoulder.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to Khumalo’s arrest.
