A Beitbridge man has been sentenced to an effective six months in prison for stealing goats.

Malvin Sibanda (20) of Mudau Village under Chief Sitaudze was brought before the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court on stock theft

charges.

He was sentenced to 24 months in prison of which six months were suspended for five years.

A further 10 months were suspended on condition of restitution of ZWG10 400 by October 20, 2024.

The State alleged that on an unknown date in the period extending from June 2024 to August 24, 2024, Sibanda connived with

his accomplice only known as Chabangu, who is still at large to steal Gladys Ndou’s goats.

The goats had been left to graze at Masera grazing lands. Sibanda and Chabangu drove the goats to Shashe where they sold

them to unknown buyers.

The issue came to light on August 24, 2024, when Ndou was advised by an informer that Sibanda and Chabangu were seen in

possession of 13 goats.

A police investigation led to the arrest of Sibanda.

The total value of the stolen goats was ZWG10 400 and nothing was recovered.
