A 39-year-old Plumtree man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a 26-year-old woman whom he had been drinking with at Dingumuzi Bar on the 6th of April 2024.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the woman got so drunk that she could not walk and the man took advantage of her state of incapacitation and raped her in a secluded area near Dingumuzi bar.
“A witness observed the sexual assault and alerted the bar owner, who promptly notified police officers on patrol in the area leading to the accused person’s arrest. The accused person was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.,” said NPAZ.
