Man jailed for scalding son

A Bulawayo man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for scalding his son with boiling water after he came home late.

Edmond Pamire (62) from Tshabalala suburb emptied a bucket of boiling water on the chest and neck of his son Brian (29) after he came home late from a bar.

Brian sustained burns on his arm, chest, neck and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.

Pamire was convicted on his own plea to physical abuse charge by Western Commonage magistrate Mr Stephen Ndlovu.

He was sentenced to effective 12 months in jail.

Prosecuting, Ms Patience Sibanda said on November 3 this year at around 8PM, Pamire emptied a bucket of boiling water on his son accusing him of coming home late.

“The accused person and the complainant had a misunderstanding after the complainant came home late. The accused person then emptied a bucket of boiling water on the complainant resulting in the him sustaining burns,” she said. — @sharonbuwe
