A 21-YEAR-OLD man was found dead by the roadside in a suspected murder case along Leopold Takawira Road near Bulawayo’s Centenary Park yesterday morning.

The man is suspected to have been robbed and beaten to death.

According to a relative who refused to be identified, the deceased was an artisanal miner who worked at a mine on the outskirts of Bulawayo along the Harare Road.

She said the deceased left home to celebrate Christmas Day with friends.

“He went to town to join his friends to celebrate Christmas and did not return,” she said.

The deceased stayed along Lawley Road in Suburbs.

When the Chronicle news crew visited the scene at around 11AM yesterday, police were taking the body to the mortuary.

A lot of blood was all over his face and he was badly injured on the head.

A ranger who works at Centenary Park who spoke on condition of anonymity said the place was now a dangerous spot because of armed robbers.

“This area is very dangerous and people should avoid walking alone especially at night. Many people have been robbed here,” he said.
