Man killed over $10

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed to death over the weekend following a misunderstanding over $10 during a drinking spree at Shashe business centre in Chivi district.

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident, which occurred on Saturday.

The suspect fled from the scene.

He said the suspect ran amok and stabbed the deceased at 10pm.

“Panashe Hove (21) of Mushini village who was drinking beer at Shashe business centre had a misunderstanding over $10 with Lawrence Mlambo who works and resides in Mlambo bottle store. Mlambo proceeded towards Hove with a broken beer bottle, intending to stab him over the issue but was refrained by other patrons.

“However, Mlambo returned later demanding the $10 owed by Hove before he stabbed him on the left rib cage with a broken beer bottle,” said Insp Dhewa.

He said Hove died on the spot and Mlambo fled from the scene.

“He bled profusely before he died and his body was taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Investigations as are underway to apprehend Mlambo.

“We urge members of the public to refrain from using violence to resolve disputes, especially when they are drunk,” said Insp Dhewa. -@NyikaLingani
