THE trial of a 28-year-old man from Zezani in Beitbridge who allegedly assaulted his 12-year-old brother resulting in his death when he refused to take his antiretroviral drugs has been postponed to 30 August.
Thuso Ndou of Chief Stauze area was not asked to plead to a charge of murder when he appeared before Miss Gloria Takundwa on Tuesday.
The prosecutor, Mr Jabulani Mberesi, told the court that Ndou was staying with his younger brother as his guardian as their parents were late.
The court was told that on 31 July at about 12noon, Thuso ordered the younger brother who was on antiretroviral therapy to take his medication, but he refused resulting in him assaulting him.

When the boy tried to flee from his brother’s attack he fell head-long on a stone and collapsed prompting the accused to attempt to resuscitate him but he failed.
The boy was later taken to Beitbridge District Hospital, but died on the way. The matter was then reported to police resulting in Ndou’s arrest.
