A GWANDA man is on the run after allegedly killing his elder brother during a fist fight over an undisclosed matter at Simbumbumbu Village.

Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson Inspector Chiratidzo Dube confirmed the incident, which occurred on 17 May.

She said the suspect, Humphrey Ncube (37), allegedly had a misunderstanding with his brother, Mbongeni Ncube (43), while they were at Phumulani Bar, resulting in a violent altercation.

“I can confirm that we recorded a murder case where a man killed his brother. The two brothers had a misunderstanding while they were at Phumulani Bar resulting in a fist fight. Mbongeni fell on the ground and his head hit a rock. He sustained injuries and he was rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals where he died,” she said.

Inspector Dube said Mbongeni succumbed to his injuries on the following day while receiving treatment at the United Bulawayo Hospitals.

She appealed to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of Humphrey Ncube to report to the nearest police station.

Inspector Dube also urged members of the public to desist from resorting to violence when resolving disputes.
