after his brother hit him with a wooden stool on the head following a domestic dispute, police have reported.
The police said the fatal assault took place in Majerimani Village last Friday at about 7pm.
Confirming the incident, Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Leonard Chabata said the brothers had a fallout during a family gathering meant to solve a domestic dispute.
He identified the deceased as Tafadzwa Njanji (22), of Majerimani Village under Chief Nemangwe.
“On the day in question, it is alleged that the two brothers were seated in the kitchen hut in the company of their mother, Mrs Nkazana Njanji (52), their uncle Mr Freddy Njanji and Mr Mapiwa Majerimani, who is the village head.
“They had gathered to resolve a domestic dispute, which was between the two brothers, the suspect Arnold Njanji and the now deceased Tafadzwa.
“During the discussion, the now deceased mentioned that their mother was showing favour towards the suspect,” said Insp Chabata.
He said this did not go down well with the suspect who stood up, picked up a wooden stool and struck Tafadzwa on the head.
“Tafadzwa lost consciousness and first aid was rendered, but to no avail and he eventually died.
“The matter was reported to the police, who attended to the scene and the body was conveyed to Gokwe Hospital mortuary for a postmortem. Investigations are still in progress,” said Insp Chabata.
He said the suspect was still at large.
“Police are appealing to members of the public with information which may lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact any nearest police station or use police suggestion boxes,” he said.
