A MAN killed his two girlfriends, and locked their bodies in his homes in Mutare and Chipinge, after rows over infidelity.
Felix Siyatunya, 37, has been sentenced to two life imprisonments at the Mutare High Court for the two separate murder cases committed in similar circumstances.
On December 18, last year, Siyatunya had a misunderstanding with his girlfriend over allegations of infidelity.
During the ensuing altercation, he repeatedly struck the victim on the head with a log.
He then used the pointed end of a metal file to stab her several times on the head and neck.
She died after succumbing to the injuries.
In a statement, Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, the CID spokesperson, said after killing the victim, Siyatunya wrapped the body in a blanket, left it in his rented apartment, and fled.
“The victim’s body was later discovered by her sister after the accused called her and instructed her to check his room,” Det Insp. Muteweri said.
On January 3, this year, detectives arrested Siyatunya in Mutare.
Further investigations revealed that Siyatunya was also wanted in connection with a murder committed on September 27, 2023, at Checheche Growth Point in Chipinge.
In that case, Det Insp Muteweri said Siyatunya bashed his then girlfriend to death, following allegations of infidelity.
He allegedly covered the body with a blanket, locked the room from outside, placed the key under the door mat, and disappeared.
He then later called and advised his landlord who found the body in the room and advised the police.
Siyatunya was convicted at the High Court in Mutare.
Justice Muzenda presided over the case.
Det Insp Muteweri said the accused was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment on June 2, 2026, for the second count.
On June 9, this year, he returned to the same court, was convicted again, and sentenced to another life imprisonment for the first count.
Meanwhile, Abiola Mangena (29) was last week sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for robbery by the Bulawayo Regional Court.
Mangena was found guilty of invading a shop where he produced a black pellet gun, pointed it at the shop owner, grabbed a cash box and fled.
The complainant shouted for help, prompting members of the public to give chase.
Mangena was subsequently arrested and police recovered the weapons used in the crime, including the pellet gun.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police continue to applaud members of the public for their concerted effort in the fight against crime.
“Such collective efforts remain vital in ensuring the safety and security of communities throughout the country,” said Det Insp Muteweri.
