MAN KILLS SON-IN-LAW

A 62-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested for allegedly killing his son-in-law, who had visited his former wife, five years after their separation.

Justin Ngapasare Mukanje, of Munhenga Village in Murehwa, tried to commit suicide, after his arrest, but failed.

He was alleged to have attacked Richard Nyambuya of Nyambito Village with a log.

Richard, who was 35, died instantly.

Justin was not happy that Richard visited his daughter Memory Mukanje (34).

The couple separated five years ago.

Justin downed poison, after he was arrested, but was rushed to a local hospital where he was admitted and discharged on Wednesday.

He was taken to Makosa Police Station.

Memory and Richard had five children.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii, confirmed the arrest.

“Police arrested a Mutoko man in connection with murder.

“He is suspected to have killed his son-in-law following a dispute on May 11, 2024.

“The body of the deceased was found the following day in a bush.

“The suspect ran into the forest, after learning about a police report, where he was arrested.

“He downed poison and the arresting detail quickly saved his life by rushing him to a hospital.

“He was discharged and is now leading police with investigations.”
