A Rushinga man has gone into hiding after he allegedly killed his wife before cutting her head off in unclear circumstances.
The incident occurred in Manyozo Village, Rusambo, and the victim’s remains were discovered by some villagers who alerted the police.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a statement.
“Police in Rushinga are investigating a case of murder which occurred on September 22, 2024 in Manyozo Village, Rusambo, where the victim, Grace Mureza aged 28 was found dead with her head cut off,” he said.

“The victim’s husband, David Meja is being sought in connection with the case. Anyone with information that might assist with investigations should contact the nearest police station.”
Meanwhile, police in Mahusekwa have arrested a couple, Colleen Munemo (30) and Shepherd Mugava (29) in connection with a case of murder that occurred at Landos Business Centre, Chihota, when their six months old child died after being thrown on the ground during a domestic dispute on September 19, 2024.
The duo went on to make a false report to the police alleging that the child had fallen from the bed.
Investigations conducted by the police led to the arrest of the couple who have since appeared in court.
They were remanded in custody.
In another case, police have confirmed a fatal accident in which a toddler aged one-year and three months died after being run over by a Honda Fit that was reversing at a house in Maridale, Norton, on September 23 at around 3.10 pm.
The victim sustained head injuries and died upon admission at a local hospital in Norton.
