AN Epworth man left his wife being raped by a stranger after he was threatened with a knife.

The man ran away to save his life leaving his 34-year-old wife being raped at a bush along a dust road near Stopover Shopping Centre.

He was going home with his wife from the shopping centre at around 10pm.

The two met the man, who started claiming that he (husband) was walking with his wife.

The wife denied knowing the man and immediately became violent and assaulted.

Meanwhile, the husband tried in vain to stop the man from assaulting his wife.

The man threatened to kill the husband with a knife he was holding and ordered him to leave the place before raping his wife.

He complied and walked away from the scene.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a rape case in Epworth.

“Accused person threatened to stab the complainant and her husband with a knife.

“The accused person raped the complainant twice without protection.

“After the rape, the complainant failed to locate her husband and sought refuge at a nearby house.

“She sought medical attention at Parirenyatwa Hospital for medical examination,” said Insp Chakanza.
