A BULAWAYO man lost two tonnes of maize worth $700 during the month of November 2017 to his employees after they forcefully gained access into his storeroom.

Admire Chihanya discovered that maize mysteriously disappeared when the two, Mthokozisi Moyo and Sebastian Ndlovu, were on night duty.

The pair appeared at the Western Commonage courts facing charges of unlawful entry and theft.

Resident magistrate Lungile Ncube presided over the case.

a?Moyo and Ndlovu were both employees at my company based in Kelvin North, after some time I realised that each time they were on night duty my maize would disappear. Sometimes I found my storeroomas asbestos damaged and again bags of maize would have disappeared,a? said Chihanya.

The court heard that nothing was recovered upon the arrest of Moyo and Ndlovu.

The pair pleaded guilty and begged the magistrate not to send them to jail.

a?We sold all the maize and we had already used the money at the time of our arrest. Please give us a light sentence as we have families to feed, we wonat repeat such a crime again,a? said Ncube.

Both men were spared a jail sentence on condition that they paid Chihanya back his money.

a?You did not waste the courtas time by admitting to the crime. You are therefore sentenced to 90 days in prison which is wholly suspended on condition that you restitute the complainant $700,a? said magistrate Ncube. . .
