DOGS are commonly referred to as a�?mena��s best friend,a�? but a Beitbridge man had a rude awakening when he discovered the opposite of the phrase when his unclea��s dog ripped off part of his testicles.
After the horrific attack the man, Logic Last Dube, was taken to Beitbridge Hopsital where he was later told one of his testicles was no longer functional.
It is reported that on the fateful day, Dube (21) was asked by his uncle to take the dog which they had kept for almost two years to the Department of Veterinary Services for vaccination.
It is alleged all hell broke loose when the dog attacked him along the way without provocation.
Although Dube who is believed to be in Chiredzi was not reachable for comment by the time of going to print, a source close to the incident said his manhood was also partly injured during the vicious attack.
a�?What happened is that on the fateful day Dube was asked by his uncle to take the dog to the veterinary department for vaccination.
Dube was attacked along the way when he pulled the dog which was about to cross the road in front of an oncoming vehicle.
a�?After pulling the dog, it turned violent and started attacking him. It dragged him down to the ground and in the process tore his pair of trousers and underwear. It then reached his testicles and mauled them,a�? said the source who preferred anonymity for fear of victimisation.
The source said during the attack Dube lay on the ground crying uncontrollably before a taxi driver came to his rescue.
The dog left Dube after the taxi driver drove towards them. The driver rushed Dube to hospital.
The source further said when news of Dubea��s attack by the dog on his genitals filtered throughout the border town people jostled to the hospital to see him.
Security details manning the entrance to the hospital reportedly had a torrid time controlling the tumultuous crowd.
