A Waterfalls man reportedly lost US$4 000 in a botched car deal.
The vehicle, a Toyota Vitz, is currently in custody of the police.
The case was reported at Glen Norah Police Station under RRB 5355874 and the suspect is on the run.
Tafadzwa Tarusenga said he paid the suspect the money on November 17.
“These fraudsters varikubira vanhu mari using the same car. What happened was that one of them by the name Innocent Chikakayi advertised a Toyota Vitz achiti arikuitengesa.
“We communicated and met at Waterfalls Police Station then we went to my friend in Kuwadzana who had the money and we gave the guy US$4 000.

Tafadzwa said they went to Highglen where he said their offices were located.
“When we got to Highglen, he went inside and left us in the car. “After a few minutes, he phoned us achiti chiuyai tiite paperwork. Little did we know that as we went into the offices, he came out using another entrance and took the car using spare keys, and disappeared with the car and the money,” said Tafadzwa.
“After reporting to the police, it was discovered that the car was taken from a car rental. The police took the car to Glen Norah Police Station and there has been no action.
“I am now stranded and lost money, and the suspects have not yet been arrested,” Tafadzwa said.
