Man loses US$7 000 to gun-wielding robbers

A MAN from Kwekwe in Midlands Province lost US$7 000 to three armed robbers who threatened to gun him down if he refused with the money.

A source close to investigations said Courage Mugari who was walking to the shops in the company of his two friends was allegedly stopped by three robbers who were armed with two pistols.

“They left his two friends and stood a few meters from them. Two of the robbers had pistols and they produced them while threatening to shoot him if he screamed or failed to surrender money to them,” said the source.

Gripped with fear, Mugari gave them US$7000 and his cellphone, after that they fled. He reported the incident to the police. 

Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector, Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.

“Police are appealing for information, which can help in arresting culprits who are behind this armed robbery. Anyone with information about their whereabouts can approach any police station,” he said.
