A NINE-YEAR-OLD was raped after being lured into a house to watch television by a neighbour in Mt Hampden.
Clever Chihwa (20) allegedly raped the minor between May and July. He has since been arrested.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said the suspect was expected to appear in court.
“Police arrested a Mt Hampden man for raping a minor,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances are that between May and July 2023, and on a weekend, the minor went to the accused’s house to watch television.
“The accused was in the room, together with his two sisters, aged 6 and 10.
“The accused sent his sisters to buy Zapnax leaving the complainant in the room.”
He added:
“Accused went to where the complainant was seated, grabbed and raped her once without protection.
“The matter came to light when the minor’s mother noted rash on the complainant’s private parts and asked the complainant what had transpired.
“The complainant revealed the matter leading to the arrest.”
The minor was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital for medical examination.
