A MAN in Masvingo is making a living from selling homemade diesel to villagers.
He has been running the business since February this year.
Simbarashe Chirambadare ( 31) invented a machine and started experiments about making his homemade diesel during the Covid-19 lockdown.
He claims he gained knowledge from reading a book about making diesel and started to experiment.
His clients include farmers, who are buying his diesel for their tractors, while others are using his diesel for their generators and grinding mills.
“I started working on some waste plastics and used motor oils during the lockdown period and came up with ideas to make diesel,” said Simbarashe.
“It worked and I collected some iron sheets, joined them together and made a blast furnace.
“By September last year, I had a lot of hope and by February, this year, diesel came out and I started selling it to some villagers.
“They returned to buy more after proving that it was good for their tractors and generators and I am now earning a living from it.”
He added:
“With support, I can produce 20 000 litres of diesel.
“I want to tell Zimbabweans that there is wealth in our motherland, with knowledge and zeal we can have a better life and stop drug abuse that has become an enemy of our daily life.
“We want youths who believe in themselves.”
