A BULAWAYO man yesterday offered $10 for the monthly upkeep of his two minor children.

Ms Jemmy Mpofu had demanded $100 from Edward Ncube for the maintenance of the children aged four and six years old.

“He has not been taking care of his children. I am requesting $100 for the upkeep of our two minor children,” said Mpofu.

Ncube offered $10 saying he is not employed.

“I cannot afford $100 because I’m unemployed, I can offer $10 every month for the upkeep of my two children. I live in the rural areas and my mother is the one taking care of me,” he said.

Mpofu argued that Ncube is a builder but he told the court that he was not working on any project now.

Bulawayo magistrate Adelaide Mbeure ordered Ncube to pay $60 a month for the upkeep of his two children.

“$10 is not enough for two children. You are ordered to pay $60 for two minor children until they are 18 years or self–supportive,” she said.
