A HARARE man offered US$20 for the upkeep of his 16-year-old child after being dragged to court by his ex-wife.
Violet Manyika went to court demanding that her ex-husband, Nobert Mumaku, pay US$70 in maintenance.
But Nobert offered just US$20.
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini asked him how much did the child pay in school fees?
“I do not know how much iot is but she will pay from the money I am offering.” Violet said his offer was too little. “I do not accept it because things are now expensive.
“The child is now in high school and requires a lot of things,” said Violet. Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ruled that Nobert should pay US$50, plus fees paid directly to the school.
