A MAN has written to the Law Society of Zimbabwe questioning the conduct of the lawyer who is representing him in a civil case.
Bhaswi Allen Nhamo claims Shingirai Nyengere, of John Mugogo Attorneys, betrayed his trust as the information he gave the lawyer ended up being used against him.
Bhaswi has since approached the Law Society of Zimbabwe questioning Nyengere’s conduct.
He accused Nyengere of making false accusations which left him in the hands of anti-corruption officers.
“I am writing this letter as a matter of concern on the conduct of Shingirai Nyengere, who is my lawyer,” reads Bhaswi’s letter to the Law Society of Zimbabwe.
“He is representing me in a civil matter between myself and Pio Harutsanye at Murehwa Magistrates Court.
“His conduct of communicating with the respondent in my case is tantamount to conflict of interest.
“On February 29, 2024, I had to send him a WhatsApp message after I had seen him getting cosy with the respondent.
“He replied, apologising.”
He added:
“I strongly suspect that Shingirai Nyengere was not representing me as my legal practitioner but he was doing private investigations.
“I do not think he acted in line with what is expected in a lawyer-client relationship.
“His conduct really disturbed me because that is not expected from a legal practitioner whom you will have disclosed all the information and instructed to represent you.
“I found the conduct to be unprofessional and not in line with legal ethics as he will be conflicted and not worthy to be in the legal profession.
“I will be glad if you look into my issue.”
No comment could be obtained from Nyengere yesterday.
However, H-Metro has been shown WhatsApp messages between Nyengere and Bhaswi.
No comment could be obtained from the Law Society of Zimbabwe.
