Man questions paternity, offers 30K for three children

A HARARE man has offered $30 000 as maintenance for three children, saying he doubts their paternity.

Chipo Sakubani took her ex-husband Tapiwa Manyawo to the Maintenance Court claiming $300 000.

But Manyawo offered a tenth of it, saying the money was enough since the problem was created by his ex-wife.

“I am offering $30 000 and I believe that amount is enough because it’s not my problem that she left the house.

“She had many boyfriends and I would like to first verify whether these children are mine or not.

“I am not working these days because the place where I used to sell cell phones from was burnt down.”

Sakubani told the court that Manyawo kicked her out of their home.

“I had to leave the house because he chased me out saying he was not the father of my children.”

Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Manyawo to pay $50 000 plus school fees and buy uniforms every year.
