A Kuwadzana man is in trouble for allegedly raping and impregnating his teenage ex-girlfriend sometime last year.
The matter came to light after it was discovered that the 17-year-old Form Four student is pregnant.
Arnold Murahwa (24) was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa.
The State alleged that in April last year, the girl bumped into Arnold at Kuwadzana 5 shops where he asked her to reconcile with him, but she refused.
Later that month, the two again met at the same shopping centre and Arnold asked her to accompany him to his home, but she refused.
He allegedly dragged her into his house and started fondling her before raping her in the dining room. She went back home, but didn’t disclose the matter to anyone.
The girl’s mother noticed that her legs were swelling and took her to the doctor for a check-up and it was confirmed that she was pregnant.
It was then that she revealed the rape, leading to Arnold’s arrest.
