A 40-year-old Rushinga man was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for raping his three-year-old stepdaughter.
The State said that the man raped the girl in November last year when her mother had gone to fetch water from a stream located about 2kms from their homestead.
She returned and found the toddler’s girl’s clothes bloodstained.
She asked her husband what had happened to the child and he told her that she was injured while playing with a log.
The mother took her daughter to hospital where she was told that the girl had suffered physical injuries as a result of rape.
She laid a rape charge against her husband, and he was arrested.
