adminBINDURA magistrate Mr William Bhila has slapped a 34-year-old man with 81 years imprisonment for raping and impregnating his 14-year-old step daughter.
The man from Chinyemba Homestead in Chiweshe raped his step daughter on four different occasions between May and August last year.
On three occasions, the rapist would summon the minor to his shop after school and rape her. The court proved that on the fourth incident, the girl was raped whilst bathing at the homestead. However, the rape was discovered in November last year when the girl’s teacher quizzed her upon poor performance and lack of concentration in class.
The minor then revealed that she was seven months pregnant and her stepfather was responsible. A report was made to the police leading to the man’s arrest.
Mr Bhila last week passed a 20-year sentence on each of the four counts.
The additional year was for escaping from police at Glendale Station on November 27 before being captured on the same day at Mbare Musika.
Mr Bhila, however, suspended 10 years on condition of good behaviour.
