Defrauding his employer of $1 720 landed an administrator at Electrosales in trouble after he was slapped with an 18-month jail term or 210 hours of unpaid work.
However six months were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years while another 12 months were set aside on condition that he restitutes the company its money.
Brian Nyakonda(41) pleaded guilty to theft as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

It was the state case led by Ms Christine Mwenga that on September 22 at around 5pm Cecil Kanda who is a till operator handed the money to Nyakonda for banking.
Nyakonda converted the money to his own use.
On October 7, Cecil Kanda discovered that the money was not deposited in the company’s bank account.
He went to Electrosales Mutare branch and made a reconciliation of the company’s books and discovered that the money was not deposited.
In mitigation, Nyakonda told the court that he wanted to use the money to settle his personal debts.
“I wanted to refund the money back and even now I am willing to restitute the company,’’ he said.
