A MAN from Bulawayo’s Pumula South suburb was reportedly left counting his losses after two armed robbers choked him before tying his hands with a rope and allegedly sodomised him and robbed him of his car, cash and cellphones.

The 59 year-old was driving along Coghlan Avenue in Bulawayo’s Parklands suburb, when the incident happened.

“While he was driving along Coghlan Avenue at around 630pm this week on Monday, he saw a boulder blocking the road. He stopped the car and disembarked to remove the big stone. While he was trying to remove the stone, two other robbers emerged from behind the car and grabbed him,” said Dube’s relative.

The relative added: “They tied him with a rope before they removed his trousers and sexually attacked him.”

Soon after that, they demanded money and they took two cellphones and US$I95 before they drove in his car.

On the same day, he reported the matter at Kumalo Police Station. Police from Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) attended the scene and they are yet to arrest the robbers.

Bulawayo Police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

“We can confirm that a 59-year-old man was robbed of his car, cash and his two cellphones. We are appealing for information that may be of help in apprehending the two robbers. Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station,” he said.
