Man sodomises reveller at bar

Court Reporter
A 26-year-old Harare man yesterday appeared in court on allegations of sodomising a reveller at a bar after ambushing him in a toilet.
Delan Mukonde (26) of Waterfalls appeared before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe facing aggravated indecent assault charges.
Mr Mahwe denied Mukonde bail and advised him to apply at the High Court.
He  is  expected back in court on June 17.

Prosecutor Mr Farai Gatsi alleged that at around 2am on March 30 this year, the complainant was drinking alcohol with his friends at a bar in Harare.
When he went to the toilet alone, it is alleged that Mukonde followed and grabbed him by the neck.

Allegations are that Mukonde dragged the man into a commuter omnibus parked near the toilet and forcibly removed his trousers before sodomising him.
Mukonde allegedly offered the complainant US$1 to lower his voice when he shouted for help.

People gathered around the kombi when they heard the shouting, and a citizen’s arrest was effected.
Mukonde was handed over to Waterfalls Police.
