Man stabbed for mocking his mother

A 28-year-old Mbare man was on Tuesday arrested for stabbing his mother’s brother with a kitchen knife.

Wesley Ngorima stabbed Mike Mutandadzi on the collarbone following an altercation between him and his mother Alice Zisengwe.

Ngorima had been accusing his mother of dating different men and the later informed her brother to try and solve the matter.

He reportedly threatened to kill Alice with a knife and upon Mutandadzi’s intervention, Ngorima stabbed him.

He was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was admitted.

Ngorima was arrested.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest saying Ngorima is facing attempted murder charges.

“Police arrested a Mbare for attempted murder.

“Circumstances were that the accused person had an altercation with his mother.

“The complainant and the accused had a heated argument, which resulted in the accused person stabbing the complainant once on the left collarbone.

“He sustained a deep cut and started bleeding profusely from the stabbed wound.

“He cried for help and members of the public gathered and apprehended the accused person.

“A blood-stained kitchen knife was recovered and taken as an exhibit,” said Insp Chakanza.
