A Harare man has appeared in court for allegedly stabbing a pastor at his church once in the chest with a knife.

Shingirai Muyambo (29) was advised to seek bail at the High Court when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa.

He returns to court on October 23 pending finalisation of investigations.

Prosecutor Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti alleged that on Sunday at Lifelong College corner Robert Mugabe and Rotten Row road, Harare the informant was decorating the interior of her church called Mountain Top Apostolic Ministries.

This is when he saw the complainant Isaac Zhou, who is her pastor, falling on the ground after being stabbed in the chest with an okapi knife by Muyambo.

The informant quickly ran to the scene and saw Pastor Zhou bleeding from the chest and he was rushed to a hospital.

Muyambo allegedly tried to flee from the scene, but he was apprehended by civilians and was handed over to the police.

The weapon used was recovered and is held as an exhibit.
