Man storms into stranger’s house and rapes her

A 27-YEAR-Old man from Gweru who brazenly stormed into the lodgings of a female farm worker in Chinhoyi district in the dead of night, before raping her once has been sentenced to an effective 15 years in prison.

Clemence Karuma, according to records from the National Prosecuting Authority, and the complainant do not know each other and have no relation. It was stated that on an untold date, Karuma stormed into the 26-year-old complainant’s room demanding a lighter to light a cigarette.

“The complainant told him that she did not have one, after which he then demanded money, threatening to rape her. The complainant then gave him US$15 but the accused said that was not going to stop him from raping her,” read the document.

It was stated that Karuma was brandishing an iron bar, threatening to kill her with it. He ordered the complainant to remove her clothes before raping her once and then disappearing into the night. The complainant made a report to the police leading to Karuma’s arrest and subsequent conviction for the crime.
