Trouble started after the man failed to pay two beasts for services rendered by the “prophet”.
The man surrendered the snake last Thursday after the “prophet” had alleged that he would only get rid of it after being paid. The beasts were payment for the cleansing conducted at the man’s Rusape rural home.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau yesterday confirmed the incident and said the snake was surrendered to National Parks and Wildlife Management officials. He said last week, the man who had problems at his rural home sought the services of another traditional healer who went alone to cleanse his homestead. Some of the problems are said to have continued resulting in him seeking the services of the self-styled prophet from Zimre Park and they went together to Rusape.
The prophet is reported to have said that he had found the python and it was behind all the problems. The prophet then asked for two beasts as payment for his services and the man told him that he did not have. He then stashed the snake in a sack and the two came back to Harare where the prophet told him that he was going to take and kill the snake once he was paid. Insp Sabau said the man took the snake to his house and last Thursday, he went to the police station where he made a report.
