A 37-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court facing murder charges after he brutally and fatally assaulted his neighbour following a misunderstanding.
Blessing Rotso, 37, was remanded in custody to October 9, when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.
It is the State’s case that on September 18, in Granary Phase 4, Harare, Rosto and four alleged accomplices, who are still at large, assaulted the now deceased Tichaona Masawi. They assaulted him all over the body, using fists and unknown objects, until he fell unconscious.
The court heard that Rosto and his accomplices left Masawi along the road, where he was found by a Good Samaritan, who then ferried him to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
As a result of the assault, he succumbed to the injuries on Friday.
On the same day, a post mortem was conducted at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital by a pathologist who concluded that the cause of death was due to severe head trauma.
Investigations were carried out by detectives from CID Homicide Harare, leading to the arrest of Rosto.
It’s the State’s case that there are two witnesses, who saw Rosto and his friends, committing the offence.
