Man up for raping speech impaired woman

Manicaland Correspondent
A Zimunya man has appeared in court for raping a 32-year-old speech-impaired woman. Titus Zengeya (31) appeared before magistrate Mr Nyasha Kuture last week charged with rape and was remanded in custody to April 17 for trial.

It is the State’s case that Zengeya approached the victim while she was watering the garden, pulled her to a secluded place in the woods near the garden and raped her.

Zengeya was caught in the act by the complainant’s guardians who were searching for her after they noticed that she had been missing for a while.

After conducting a sign language interview with her, her relatives learnt that the accused had forced himself on her.
They informed her father who accompanied her to the police station to make a report, leading to Zengeya’s arrest.
