Man up for setting on fire his father’s house and car

A 21-year-old Chinhoyi man was jailed for three years after he was convicted of malicious damage to property at Chinhoyi Magistrates Court.
Knowledge Jani from Shackleton Mine set his father’s house and car on fire after accusing him of causing his sickness.

He was initially sentenced to four years in prison before one year was suspended. He will serve an effective three years in prison.

On April 22, 2024, Jani went to his parent’s house and accused them of causing his sickness.

He destroyed his father’s Nissan Sunny and drained some fuel from the vehicle, which he used to set the house and vehicle on fire.

Property worth US$14 000 was destroyed during the incident. His father and stepmother reported him to the police and he was arrested.
