Unlicenced Mutare driver jailed one year

A 23-year-old Mutare man will spend one year in jail after he was convicted of driving without a licence and negligent driving.
Tinotenda Akino of Nyanzunda 2 Village under Chief Mutasa appeared before the Mutasa Magistrates’ Court recently facing two counts of contravening the Road Traffic Act for driving without a licence and negligent driving.

According to the State, on May 7, 2022, Akino was driving a seven-tonne truck at Muchemwa Farm which was loaded with timber.

While offloading, the timber rolled off and people who were on top fell and were injured.

One of the injured people was trapped under the moving vehicle and was only saved when the vehicle stopped.
