Man viciously axes wife in argument over money

A 39- YEAR- OLD man from Besa village in Seke struck his wife five times on the head with an axe after a misunderstanding over money.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said on 10 July around 5am the accused person and his wife had a misunderstanding about money which led to a physical altercation.

“The accused person took a small axe from the wardrobe and struck the complainant 5 times on the head. The two kept wrestling until the neighbours arrived on the scene. The accused person ran away giving rise to a chase. He was eventually caught and a citizens’ arrest was effected. The complainant sustained some deep cuts on the head”.

“The accused person was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment of which 1 year was suspended for 5 years. He will serve 8 years effective,” said the NPAZ.
