A HARARE man is wanted by police for rape and contempt of court.

Albert Benhura, 41, whose last known address was in Warren Park, stands accused of raping a 16-year-old girl and failing to return to court after he was remanded out of custody.

In a statement, Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said Albert was reported to have raped the girl while her parents had travelled.

“The suspect was brought before a Harare magistrate to answer to the charges.

“He however, later defaulted on bail conditions and failed to attend court on a set date.

“He has never turned up ever since and a warrant of arrest was subsequently issued against him.

“We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect,” said Insp Chakanza.
