adminEnesia Ruzani, approached the court for a protection order against her ex-husband, Lloyd Chiguru, accusing him of physical, mental and verbal abuse.
“We separated on April 6 this year and he is abusing me verbally, mentally and physically.
“He is demanding back his lobola from me and he is accusing me of infidelity with my ex-boyfriend who I broke up with in 2005,” she said.
Ruzani told the court that Chiguru was also denying paternity of their child.
“He calls me at midnight and he told our four-year-old child that I am not your daddy and he took his birth certificate and I want it back,” she said.
The court heard that at one point Chiguru caused a stir at Ruzani’s workplace after a workmate called her by her name.
“He came to my workplace and heard me being called Enesia and he caused some noise alleging that I am married so I am not supposed to be called by my first name.
“He verbally abused me in the presence of my friends saying I should not associate with single people,” she said.
Chiguru did not deny the allegations, but argued that Ruzani was being unfaithful.
“She was in love with that man, but she lied that she is her young sister’s boyfriend. I discovered some messages of that boyfriend in her phone and I gave her an ultimatum to choose between me and that man and she chose him,” he said.
Chiguru told the court that Ruzani advised him that the child was not his and she was not his wife.
“I cannot pay lobola and send her to school on behalf of someone,” he said.
Magistrate Ms Renika Dzikiti heard the matter and deferred the ruling to next Monday.
